Do you remember that show Sister, Sister from the 90s?

I loved that show when I was little (I think I was ten or eleven when it started airing). Mainly because I use to daydream about having a sister myself. I have one brother whom I love dearly, but having a sister (in addition to, not in leu of) would have been awesome too.

My best friends in high school were sisters and there was such a strong bond between them. Made me a little jealous. Like I was missing out or something.

Do you know what I mean? Or is this just me?

Maybe that’s why I am so drawn to the story of Little Minnow, a little shop on Etsy with a lot of heart. It’s run by two sisters, Lizzi and Mary, which of course I love. I am always on the lookout for husband and wife teams, but I don’t come across too many siblings working together, so this is pretty neat to me.

The two girls live in Austin, Texas, where they sketch all of their designs. Drawings are then transfered to the computer and then make their way over to screen printing. I know you are probably tired of hearing about my scarf hunt by now, but obviously, I’m partial to them…

Visit Little Minnow to see more from this sister duo.

This is our closet.

Well part of it anyway (my favorite part).

It is two or three times the size of our old one in Florida, but somehow we’ve managed to fill it to the brim with clothes and shoes. And Luna likes to sleep in there too, so I think we can all agree that it’s fair to blame her for not being able to fit anything else in there. Right?

Cool, so we’re on the same page about blaming the dog. But even so, that doesn’t change the fact that we don’t have much space left for new things. Which is why I am starting to think that unisex wearables are the way to go – saves space and it’s cheaper because you and your mate can wear it. Just not at the same time. Preferably.

Now, that’s probably not going to work when it comes to shoes or most clothing, but accessories? Yeah, I can do that! And you know I am hunting for scarves since several people told me in the comments of this post that having just one scarf in Seattle is basically insane.

So how about one of these…

I think I am partial to the red and black one - it feels kind of lumberjack-y in a good way, but green is good too.

They’re made by Don’t Get it Twisted Crochet and they look pretty cozy to me. What about you? If you like what you see you can get 20% off your order with the coupon code “PNSJAN”. There are plenty of more girlie styles too if you don’t want to go the unisex route.

That’s going to wrap things up for the week. Hope you have an amazing weekend! Stay warm.

One of my professors in college said something to me on my first day of class that I still remember today. She said, “In reference to scale, if it’s not tiny, tiny or huge, HUGE it’s not important.”

Now, I am sure there are plenty of people out there who don’t agree with what she said, and honestly I happen to love medium-sized paintings because they are perfect for our house, but I know what she meant.

If you want the viewer to have to “do something” immediately, scale is a good way to evoke that in a person. Whether they have to go up to a drawing and almost put their nose to it to see what it is, or step back so far from the piece they are practically in another room to get the full scope, both require interaction from the viewer. So I like that rule of thumb.

And towards the realm of tiny, tiny are these micro-mini paintings from Caroline of Oh Chalet. Many of the pieces in her shop at the moment revolve around winter themes, and they are so cute. I mean how can you not love a painting with a fox in it?

And after you’ve browsed her work, I am curious to know your thoughts on what my professor said to me those years ago. Agree / Disagree?

At this point, I think you know that I love photography. Right?

So I have another photo shop to share with you tonight before I head off to eat dinner with Jeff and veg-out on the couch.

I always find it interesting to see what a photographer likes to shoot most, and what they are drawn to. Do they take an interest in people or architecture or still lifes or whatever? I guess I just like to “see” what the photographer sees as beautiful.

Do you think about that too?

Pretty flowers and beautiful people are easy subjects compared to things that generally have a lot less aesthetic appeal. Fair to say? So I am pretty impressed with what I’ve found in today’s photo feature: textural photographs on Bialakura. The abstract qualities are really great, and sort of push the bounds of pretty in my mind…

I’m getting so excited for Valentine’s this year, because not only will I get to celebrate with my mister and my little lady, but I’ll have a new man in my life! My little boy is due and to welcome him with as much love as possible I’ve been scouring the interwebs for as many V-day decorations, cards, and ways to say “I love you!” as I can find. I’m thinking these delicate garlands from 3 Girls and a Goat would be just enough to decorate with but not overwhelm the new little guy. And perhaps I’ll pick up a card for my main squeeze while I’m at it.

She has a great eye. Here are a few of my favorite photos from her shop (I’m partial to the architecture. Can you tell?)…

I’ve been getting some last minute things for Alt recently (new top, accessories, and shoes) to make sure I am looking half as cute as all the other ladies that will be at the conference this year, and I have been on a serious jewelry hunt! The perfect necklace I asked for for Christmas sold out before Jeff had a chance to snag one and I have been searching for something else ever since.

So I’ve been favoriting quite a bit of jewelry lately, needless to say, and one of the shops I am loving is called giantLION. These simple seed bead necklaces and bracelets are all the rage right now (I am seeing them popping up everywhere) and I really like the pieces that the designer, Caroline Whittington, has been dreaming up. Definitely a shop to check out.

P.S. If you’re not big on the seed bead trend, Caroline has other styles of jewelry available as well.

Bonus! Visit giantLION and take 25% off your order for a limited time with code WINTER25 while the winter sale is on.

It is hard to believe winter hasn’t even started with some of the temps that we’ve been seeing around here. While I’m lucky the icicles and whipping winds have held off, it makes me a little dreamy for winter scenes. Think bundled strangers going to and fro + crazy crystals hanging low, threatening danger to all who cross under their path. For now, I’ll indulge in the treats from Urban Revisions to give me my winter fix. The hand shredded scarves look mighty toasty!
