When I saw this very stylish chair over on Design Milk, and then realized it was made primarily of recycled Coca-Cola bottles, I knew I had to pass it on. You see, I am engaged to a serious Coke Classic addict. Addict. In fact, he has recently pledged to cut down on his consumption, and when I sent him a link to this Coke chair, he cried (as much as one can cry or exclaim anything on Gchat) “Why did you put coca cola in my mind? I can taste ittttttttt.” Really. Just like that.
So, I’m happy to know that the 8 zillion bottles my fiance has consumed and diligently recycled over the years are being put to good (and very stylish) use.

Coca-Cola partnered with Emeco to create the 111 Navy Chair, made of exactly 111 Coke bottles, and a mix of pigment and glass fiber. Coke wanted to prove that things other than more plastic bottles could be made using recycled plastic. The chair will be sold through Design Within Reach.
Happy Tuesday,
Thanks to Automatism for posting about a fun new blog called They Draw and Cook, which features beautiful illustrated recipes by artists, designers and illustrators with a passion for cooking. In the mood for Faux Puttanesca? Need a good recipe for vegetable stock? Want to whip up a Simple Smoothie?
Somehow cooking seems a lot more appealing when you’re looking at a colorful, print-worthy recipe. I’d love to hang some of these recipes directly on my kitchen walls! (click on these images to appreciate the artwork in its full-size glory!)
Happy Tuesday!

Honestly, let’s just go ahead and call this column by it’s rightful name: Lighting-Obsessed. I saw these odd ceiling fan/antler-esque lighting fixtures (“Mycoligic”) on Poppytalk and found myself delving into yet another brilliant design team.
Environmentally-friendly and hand-crafted, the pieces produced by Vancouver-based Propellor Designs also happen to just be very very cool. Browse their site to see more of the goodness – way too many to post here. Some of their lighting is available to purchase on Supermarket.
Wishing you all the same magical 80 degree weather we’re having here in NJ.
This past week was chilly and rainy in New Jersey, and everyone (myself included) seemed beyond cranky and utterly dreary. It’s easy to get bogged down with work and weather and all of our responsibilities, and often we forget to step back and find joy in the little things. Like a hopscotch rug.
Sure it’s childish, but sometimes don’t you wish you could return to the continual excitement you felt as a kid? I saw this CB2 rug over on swiss miss, and think it’d be the perfect antidote to the rainy day blues. If I walked into someone’s house and saw this rug in the front entrance, I don’t think I could help but hopscotch right there and then.
Wishing you a bright and sunny week!

I’m always on the hunt for unique necklaces, so when I saw these pendants on New Brahmin I was intrigued. I thought – little origami charms, that’ s different.

But then I visited the Origami Bijou website and realized that origami extraordinaire Cindy Ng fashions each unique pendant or earring from a single sheet of 99.9% pure silver, using the same techniques as traditional paper folding. And I was completely blown away.

Knowing that such incredible talent goes into every pretty piece makes them even more special.

I vowed to myself that this week I would NOT post about lighting. Nope. Wasn’t going to do it. But when I saw these beautiful chandeliers made out of clothing hangers – clothing hangers! – I couldn’t help myself. I hope you’ll forgive me!
Thank you to The Bedlam of Beefy for introducing me to these pieces by Organelle Design.
The Hangelier 2.1 and Hangelier 1.2 are both available on Organelle Design’s Etsy shop. Seriously. Someone buy one. And then send me a picture of you standing underneath it smugly, reveling in it’s unique and wonderful light. Please?

Your one and only lighting-fiend,

I knew I was in trouble the minute I spotted these understated ceramic pendant lights on A Merry Mishap. Handmade in Portland, Oregon, these unique pieces by Pigeon Toe ceramics will add just enough interest to a room, without overpowering it.
I’m particularly fond of the mason jar pendant light and oval plated pendant light. I also love the idea of clustering a few of these different styles together (like the above photo), creating a unique little chandelier.
Have a great week!
Kathryn
