Okay, okay, so its not quite 2012 yet. But I just couldn’t wait another second to tell you how much I am looking forward to the new year. And I am sure you are too! Lots of changes and new things to look forward to…

Which has me wondering what your plan is for 2012?

Let me know what you have up your sleeve in the new year (just leave your response in the comments below). I’d love to hear what you have going on.

Just when I think gift giving is done, January is right around the corner. With that comes a boatload of birthdays (7 in total!) and it is tough to keep them all straight. With the help of Faye & Co., I can cross some things off my list. Like who’s gift goes to whom, with these hand-lettered gift tags. Pair that with some custom stationery to say “Happy Birthday!” and I’m all set. And to help you start January on the right foot, Faye & Co. is offering free Shipping with the code allcomefree.

Each year as the New Year rolls around, I get intrigued by the purity and clean looks of the all-white interior. Personally, it’s not something I could do in my own house – firstly because I like wood finishes too much, but also because my huge hairy black dog would really put a damper on the pristine look. But there’s something about the spaces shown here that really lends a sense of calm, a feeling of starting fresh.

Sometimes it’s the lack of color (I do realize that white is ALL color, but you know what I mean) that makes a space feel anticipatory, like all possibilities are still open and waiting. In any case, there is certainly something appealing about these white, quiet rooms.

I am always a fan of a fruitful collaboration, and this one is no different: Fabien Barral, a graphic designer and owner of Harmonie Interieure in France, and Lettera Magica, a letterpress house out of Poland, have paired up to create the 2012 letterpress calendar project!  The limited edition calendar (only 500 copies!) features 12 monthly compositions to help its new owner understand design and designers. I’d hop to ordering now, as last year this calendar sold out. Besides, 2012 is just around the bend.

After a few days off for the holiday, and a lot of traveling from coast to coast, it feels good to be back. But I don’t want to make this post about me…I want to know about you.

How was your holiday? What have you been up to over the break?

12/23/11

Holy moly! Count down to Christmas: just 2 days away! Where did the time go?

I’ll be heading out for a few days to spend some time with family. So this will be the last post until Wednesday (the 28th). But however you are celebrating the season this year,  I want to be sure to wish you a very happy holiday!

I don’t say this often enough (I need to work on that), but your comments and emails are such a gift to me. I am really thankful to have you around, stopping by here (and the exhibition site), re-tweeting articles, and sending supportive emails.

So thank you for being so awesome! Hope you have an amazing holiday break. See you back here later next week.

Impress your friends and family this year by wrapping gifts in these unexpected keepsake boxes, which were recently featured on Brigitte.de. All you need are a few kraft boxes (with lids), craft glue, and some antique hankies (any fabric will do really). Big thanks to Brigitte.de for asking me to share this tutorial with their readers and take part in their design bloggers holiday craft series.

And just in case you can’t read German, here’s how you can make your own…

Remove the top of the box and coat with glue. Attach hankie while glue is wet, smooth, and fold excess underneath box top. Finish with more glue and allow to dry fully.

And one last thing for today… I know I have a pretty crafty (and awesome) bunch of readers around here, so if you’d like the chance to share one of your creative diy projects on papernstitch, head over to Ninth & Bird and enter the Deck the Blogs series. I am honored to be one of the sponsors of this blogging event and I’d really love to see what you can come up with.

So submit your favorite holiday craft, recipe, or DIY project right here on Ninth & Bird for your chance to win.
