My sister-in-law is getting married today, and I couldn’t be happier. I remember how fast that day went by for Jeff and I. And my hope for the two of them (Amanda and Tim) on this day is that time stands still, so they can really enjoy the moment.

I’ll leave you for the weekend with some wedding inspiration from Max and Marguax on Once Wed (this is the best styled wedding ever in my opinion): Max and Margaux’s wedding.

We’re taking a tiny shift this week at in our look at Interior Obsessions – from last week’s look at blankets, we do a quick swivel of the head, and check out some options for headboards. Often the anchorpiece of the bed, a headboard can range anywhere from a statement piece to something purely functional. Although the headboard is part of the visual decor of a bedscape, it also serves a practical purpose: keeping your head off the wall surface behind you. It is important to note how you use your bed when selecting a headboard. Do you sit up against the back and read? In that case, you might want something tall enough that you’re not leaning against a sharp edge, or choose something with a little angle to it for easier propping, and perhaps shy away from an upholstered board that might show wear. Or do you only lay flat in bed? That can mean your choices are unlimited.

Headboards can be made from found objects: pallets, old doors, screens, mirrors. They can be integrated with nightstands, or built up to fit your needs. A differentiated wall surface may be all you need, or a window can serve as a backdrop for your bedroom vignette. Or you can opt for a more standard look, either upholstered or a traditional bedframe. This can be the piece in your bedroom that really stands out from the rest, or can integrate seamlessly to create an overall vibe. What great items have you used to create that bedroom focal point?

My birthday is in just a few days (May 15th). So I thought this tutorial for a crocheted slice of rainbow cake was kind of appropriate. Not to mention a bit more figure-friendly than my normal b-day celebration.

And although this project isn’t going to stop me from shoveling handfuls of cake in my mouth on May 15th, I still kind of want to make a ton of these little guys. And I had a feeling you might want to make some too. So…

Snag the full tutorial for making your own crocheted cake now.

San Francisco based glass artist, Heather Palmer, is making my heart go pitter-patter today with these unusual, modern nest-like bowls.

They look like sculptures, don’t they? I just love ‘em.

Each piece is completely unique with its own twists and bends. And each comes signed on the bottom.

Visit Heather Palmer on Big Cartel to browse available works. And check her out at HeatherHeather.com to view her entire portfolio.

Last week’s Workspace Wednesday was a hit. So, I’m sharing more (mostly) white workspaces again this week. And all of them are from Rue! Their workspace gallery is pretty awesome. Have you seen it yet? Really worth taking a look at if you haven’t already.

Here are a few of my favorites….
