Artist Aisyah Ang has an ambitious array of colorful abstract paintings available in her Etsy Shop. Looking at Aisyah’s work, I see her as a true visionary with a skill for combining shapes and colors to create forms we see in nature.

Each piece of creativity represents numerous possibilities design models of architectural natural peaks or mountains, bleeds of botanical fragments, floral growths, shadow of trees, unshakable stone structures.

I admire how she has so many series of paintings to choose from. Most series are nature inspired, like her Earth Series, but you’ll also find more industrial style abstract work as part of her collection.

Shop Aisyah Ang’s wide variety of abstract works on her Etsy Shop.

As a thrifter and mod object hunter, I’m drawn to these unique handmade collages created by Portuguese designer Sofia de Eça. Using mid century modern era advertisements, she’s designed a line of intriguing art pieces.

You can purchase the originals (no reproductions have been made) from the Aframboesa online shop. I like each piece, but especially admire the arrangement in desperate living I and desperate living III.

Special Discount: You’ll get 10% off an entire online order at Aframboesa until June 5th, 2011!

The Spring 2011 runway was filled with neutral tones and blocks of vibrant color, and Costume National’s Ennio Capasa collection was no different. His use of matte colors including camel, sky blue, bright orange and fiery red gave us many interior design ideas. His philosophy for the collection was “minimal clothing in high impact colors.” We went in search of interior designs which embodied each runway outfit…

This sky blue pantsuit jumper from the Spring 2011 Ennino Capasa line is perfect for a brunch with friends or an evening date when paired with a colorful wrap in a contrasting fabric.

And this room, reminiscent of that blue jumper above with touches of blue and orange, is sure to inspire some serious decorating ideas.

The red flowing shift paired with turquoise accessories exudes comfort with a dash of excitement.

While the room on the right reminds us of Capasa’s brightly hued model. Found via blogger and color expert, Kristie Barnett.

Classic black never looked so good, as it does on this Costume National model. Modest flowing silk with a sexy translucent inset is both reserved and feminine, like the room on the right.

Stately black gloss mirror with unexpected chocolate brown accents is both refined and playful.

This billowy caftan is a brilliant shade of blue flowing effortlessly as the model walks. The sleeves start short and lengthen at the back of the arm for an unexpected touch.

While this room on the right looks like it was made for the model and her brightly colored lounge wear. Nothing boring going on here.

So, I’m finally back from my trip to Key West. I realize you may not have even realized I was away until Friday. But, wow! It was such a blast and the weather was perfect: hot and sunny the entire time we were there.

I snapped a few pictures so I could show you where I was working all last week (and parasailing, and snorkeling, and hammock-ing)…

Now, like I said before, it wasn’t all play. I was working too. In fact, if you haven’t been by in a while, you may have noticed while going through last week’s posts (and just visiting the blog in general) that Jeff and I launched the blog redesign last week. And I’ve been adding updates these last few days to the sidebars as well. So, last week was still kind of a big week even though I was out of town.

And now, I am excited to be back at my desk and planning what’s next for pns.

And speaking of what’s coming up for papernstitch: After reading over your suggestions, I am now working out the details for a reader appreciation week for you to say thanks for being so awesome! When I have everything squared away, I’ll let the cat out of the bag in terms of specifics. Get excited! I think you’re going to like this a lot. *And if you would like to share your ideas for what I should include in this week of fun, leave your response on this post.

Well, that’s all the news I have for now. Stay tuned for a guest post from Design Shuffle at 1pm EST on fashion forward interiors for spring.

It’s hard to find the perfect handbag or clutch. You want something durable yet attractive, something that will hold your cash, cards, ipods, and cellphones without a hitch. Specializing in sturdy, fun clutches and handbags, Calviree’s handmade purses fit the bill.

Durable waxed canvas and leather are Calviree designer Patty’s fabrics of choice although she’s, “always on the hunt for new fabric and inspiration.” That spontaneous process is evident in her work, which has creative shapes (like this wave of blue and green) and bursts of color ( like these springy floral zippered pouches).

Looking for a durable bag? Shop Calviree’s Selection of Durable Handbags and Clutches on Etsy.

Moving away from our focus on the bedroom and last week’s look at headboards, today’s look at interiors focuses on an item that can be used virtually anywhere in the house: the shelf. A shelf is define as “a flat length of wood or rigid material, attached to a wall or forming part of a piece of furniture, that provides a surface for the storage or display of objects,” and can be used throughout the home in a multitude of ways.

Shelves can become an integral part of the architecture of your living space, built completely into the walls, or can be as simple as a storebought bookshelf. Open shelving can hold tableware or favorite objects, can be as deep as a full cabinet or shallow to provide a simple ledge for framed photos or a mirror. Shelves can serve as a room divider, can become a minimalist desk, or can be an art object that becomes the focus of the wall itself. They can display an entire collection or a single object. Made of wood, stone, glass or metal, they can be alone or in groups, stacked or staggered, thick or thin. By far the most important concept in the use of open shelving is that you need to be deliberate in your choices of the items you display, because they are on immediate view. So group like items and/or colors, and simplify your picks to avoid a hodge-podge look.
