How was your weekend? Did you manage to stay warm these last few days? I spent most of the last two days running errands, hanging out at home, and going to my nephew’s birthday party (the best part of the weekend). All while layered up, trying to keep warm in the brisk temperatures. If you’ve been bundled up lately, like me, I have a handful of pieces from QARAMAT that you might like. These eco-friendly items will help to keep you warm (and looking cute). What’s better than that?

More about QARAMAT… An ethical every day clothing line for women (men’s line coming soon) that strives for a creative collection that is also ecologically sustainable.

It’s actually warmed up around here these last few days, but just in case you are still freezing in your part of the world, I am recommending this owl sweater pattern (image above). Pretty cute, huh? Well, I am heading out for the weekend. So, here are a few links around internet land that I thought you might like…

-Find a winter wonderland thanks to the photographs of Allison Trentelman (It’s my most recent post for Scoutie Girl).

-And if you no longer have a tolerance for winter, check out this longing for spring post from papernstitch reader Sarah Frost of Teacup Adventure.

-Here is a fun (and colorful) before and after dining room over on Design Sponge.

-Then get inspired with some business links. Start finding your own success and stop judging yourself from Self Made Chick.

-Stop letting perfect get in the way of good. A really great post from someone I recently met at a conference.

-Here are some tips on how to write an artist bio in case you need some bio inspiration.

-Confront your business fears with this nine minute video.

Please add your own links below in the comments as well. Let’s get this weekend off to a good start, with some great links.

Jeff and I looked for months for the “perfect” house numbers when we bought our house a few years ago. We finally found what we were looking for on DWR. And even though they were WAY more than we wanted to pay, we bought ‘em. There were no other modern options out there at the time. So, we ended up paying alot more than we expected for exactly what we were looking for.

Well, of course, now that the numbers have long been paid for and we’ve moved on to other things, I find this diy house numbers idea from Lotta Agaton. Shit. I love this. And it cost a fraction of the price. You can recreate this look with a $5 box of nails and a little leftover wood. Simple. Modern. And pretty damn cool.

What do you think? Would you create this nailed house numbers project for your home?

Last time we got together for a look at Interior Obssessions with FormFire Glassworks, we dipped our toes into the world of color, that is to say the presence of all color, with a look at white interiors. Today, we’re going to take a stroll through a room used by all, but often not celebrated, the lavatory or bathroom, specifically with our eyes trained on the sink and countertop area. Most of us have at least one of these, with the requisite sink, basic countertop and cabinet storage below. But let’s take a look at a few alternatives that retain a sense of clean style without resorting to that old standby.

I have to say that I was completely struck with the image above – the double sink is certainly nothing new, but facing the sinks in from the ends of the counter, and hanging the sinks off the ends of a trestle-style counter and shelf were an idea I hadn’t seen before. Long trough-type sinks are a great way to prevent the boring set of double sinks, just make sure that you provide counter space, either through and extra-long counter or with inserts that span the sink opening and provide a spot to put down a brush and toothpaste. Vessel sinks allow the horizontality of the counter to remain quite strong, or can be inset to cut up the length. Or go all out with an undercounter mount in an extra-thick countertop to give a weightier feel.

There are so many options that work beautifully when it comes to cabinetry, from none at all, with a simple towel rod, to a full cabinet below. You can have the cabinetry touch the ground or be wall mounted to extend the flooring space and add a further sense of the horizontal. Open shelving, in full or in part, is a great option, especially for a smaller bathroom. It allows you the storage space without the heaviness of a full cabinet. On-view towels as well and lotions and other toiletries can give the spa-style look you’re trying to achieve. Just remember to pack away all the more unattractive things in bins or boxes!
