Literally. They really are works of art. These paper garlands are actually made of recycled prints from artist Belinda Kemp’s stockpile of ‘seconds’. If you love the artwork typically found in Belinda’s shop, Gretchen Mist, you are going to love these handmade paper garlands.
I keep thinking they would be great for a party: birthdays, holidays, bridal showers. Basically any excuse to display these babies, I’m all for!
By the way, how was everyone’s weekend?
I spent my time baking holiday cookies with my husband’s family. We made more than 400 cookies and other sweets in all to split between the four households. Seriously. I am not kidding. It was crazy. And awesome!
What did you do?
Its been quite a week. And today, all I want to do is crawl back under the covers and take the world’s longest nap. Launching the Happy Holidays Guide to DIY and releasing the new exhibition in the same week, has proved to be a a smidge overwhelming for little, old me. So, I am going to head out early and get a head start on the weekend.
Before I go, I wanted to share a couple of things. First- a thank you! Thank you so much to everyone who has been commenting this week on the blog. All your thoughts and ideas are so great, and I just can’t tell you all enough how great it is to read through everything you write. And as long as we’re discussing thank yous, I should mention that I owe a huge thank you to the Huffington Post for giving papernstitch an awesome shout out in their Indie Design Gift Guide yesterday. Read the full write up right here.
And one last thing. I wanted to recommend today’s shop of the day, art shop Tastes Orangey, to everyone for weekend browsing. I always get so inspired when I pop by Clare’s shop, and I hope you will too. Have a great weekend! See you Monday.

A curious collection of vintage finds, artful creations, and French inspired home decor. I was in awe the moment this quaint little Etsy shop, Looking Glass House, caught my eye, and I will be forever more. J’adore beaucoup tout les belles. From the handmade Christmas ornaments to the charming bundled vintage recipe cards (click all images to shop). Do you love it too?
Love,
Letitia of Dujour

I can’t believe it is almost the end of the day and this is the first time I am mentioning that today is the first day of the new exhibition. The day is zipping by!
Anyway, back to what I was saying… The new exhibition is packed with 130 talented artists and makers. The site is ready for some weekend browsing. I know its only Thursday, but I have the weekend on my brain already. If you’re looking for suggestions, here are a few shops I yet again added to my wish list this year…
Samuel Sparrow: A beautiful home wares collection inspired by traditional crafting skills, specializing in unique, handmade products from countries including Morocco, Uzbekistan, Asia, Central America and of course Scotland.
Dr Kennedy Jones: Tennessee artist Hollie focuses mainly on vintage paper collage in her shop. And is very much inspired and influenced by the forest, animals, and fairy tales and love visual storytelling.
Kitty Rogers Photography: A photography shop filled with beautiful captures like the one above. Lots of great holiday themed photos right now AND photo ornaments. They are awesome!

Side Note: The image at the very top of this post is from a really cool jewelry shop made by designer Amy Blacso, who is also in the new exhibition.
Stepping in to the handmade housewares shop of Emma Lamb is like modern meets blast from the past. Emma uses traditional crochet techniques in much of her work, along with a retro color palette. But somehow each piece still feels very up-to-date, while maintaining those granny-chic qualities of the days gone by.
The shop is stocked with household items like cushions, pot holders, dishcloths, and garlands. But there are also a few gift ideas tucked away, if you already have everything you need for your home: pincushions for crafters, pdf patterns for two beautiful scarves, and embroidered greeting cards.
Discount: 10% off your entire order at Emma Lamb, when you type ‘papernstitch’ in the ‘Shop Coupon Code’ box upon checkout on Etsy. Offer ends January 9th 2010, discount does not apply to shipping fees.
Visit Emma Lamb now to get your 10% off!
Okay, I know this sounds weird, but its actually a really cool use for an everyday item. Turn a metal grater into a mini magnetic memo board and catch all, just like the ones above.
All you need to recreate this look is a metal grater (I like these vintage ones from AMradio), magnets, and perhaps a skinny vase (optional) to catch your scissors and pencils.
What do you think? Would you use a metal cheese grater like this in your office?

This week’s Interior Obsessions with FormFire Glassworks takes us away from the dining table into the realm of color once again. Inspired by Pantone’s announcement for their Color of the Year for 2011, Honeysuckle (18-2120,) I decided to peruse the world of interiors for spaces where pink and its sister color coral, were used in a modern and fresh way. In all honesty, that was a harder task than it would seem, as the majority of interiors employing this vibrant color are frightening girls’ rooms which tend to employ so much of the color that one feels trapped inside a bubblegum bubble. Although pink is often a great accent color in its many forms from the lightest blush to the brightest fuschia, it is rarely shown as a major force in space design because of its tendency to take over completely.
Used in a very graphic way, pink can be a force to be reckoned with, and it is best used set against a neutral like white, black or brown to really set it off to good effect. Instead of painting the entirety of a room and adding further touches of the color, try limiting your pink to a single surface, such as a wall or floor. Or bring in rosy furniture to brighten up a minimal background. Start simply, and ramp the intensity up slowly – although pink can really liven up a space, it can overwhelm just as easily. Hot pinks work great as a splash against icy aqua tones, and is a great mod touch when paired with a bright orange. I’d love to hear how you incorporate pink into your home decor!
