Just found this charming wood-filled workspace and I love it. Reminds me of this office space I found on emmas designblogg over the weekend.

Today we have an adorable tutorial for these pinwheel hair combs from Mayi Carles, who has a really cute shop by the same name. You may remember Mayi from this studio tour and interview earlier in the month. And today Mayi is sharing her secrets on how to make these playful accessories.

They would make for a great party project to supervise with a group of kids (yes, they’ll probably need supervision since there is some hand sewing involved). Don’t you think? Here’s what you’ll need…

Mandy from The Light Fantastic definitely has an eye for capturing beautiful light, as her shop name implies. There is a certain femininity to her work, which I like.

When I posted about my mini-meltdown the week before last, I didn’t expect that I would get so many heartfelt responses back via comments and emails. Reading about other people’s experiences made me feel a truer sense of community around here. And also, just cheered me up. So, I thought I would share some of my favorites below in hopes that we can all take something positive away from this. Oh, and for those that don’t know, the question I posed was:

Have you ever felt jealous or threatened by another person’s success?

Yes! More often than I’d like, but I’ve been able to use it for great learning opportunities. What could I have done if I was presented the same opportunity (or how did I drop the ball)? How can I kick things up a notch and rock it anyway? What can I be doing better?

I have never found that anything good has come from comparing my successes to others. I say that because I always feel horrible after and it becomes a really vicious cycle, so much so that I start to focus more on that then what I should be doing to further grow creatively myself. It hurts and it’s no fun, but I’ve done it many many times, and I think everyone has done it at least once. Maybe the thing to remember in all of this is that no matter where we are in regards to success, there is probably someone who is looking at us and thinking that we are doing SO well. And maybe they have those pangs of jealousy towards us…

This gorgeous clothing line was created by Emily Riordan Roache. The line is rightfully called Roirdan Roache and is beautiful in its simplicity. Of course its no wonder, considering Emily studied Fashion Design at London’s CSM for four years and is now living in New York. From one fashion capital to another, right?

Her current collection is a combination of elevated basics and simple cuts with original details and clean silhouettes.
