I think those pencils say it all. These are my picks for the day. I am gravitating towards a lot of muted tones, but have a pop of color in there for good measure. For more info on the items you see here, visit papernstitch.
A couple of weeks ago, Apartment Therapy featured five workspaces that they called “messy chic”. I saw this photo and completely fell for the huge inspiration collage and those gorgeous wood chairs. I have to say though, if this is messy, I don’t want to know what my office would be dubbed.

Shop of the Day: Its no wonder that A. Coghlan’s work has been featured on Modish, Design Milk, Share Some Candy, and a whole lot more. These prints would be a perfect gift for anyone who appreciates illustration, but I have a sneaking suspicion that designers especially will love ‘em. Definitely an artist to watch!
And if you are looking for a little edge and personality for your living space, this is the shop to visit. The larger scale pieces above are perfect together on a long wall. Or cluster up some of the smaller pieces (top images) for a different look.

I have a special post for you today, including not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR new artists for you to check out! This first one is Kate Durkin, whom I found on Etsy just last week and could not keep to myself. Her simple and lovely illustrations have soft color schemes and kids with antlers or elephant heads, and frankly, what’s not to love about those? She really struck my fancy, so I hope you enjoy checking her out too. Here’s her etsy shop, personal website, and blog!
This next artist was one of the first artists I even purchased anything from on Etsy, her name is Annette Mangseth. She actually has two etsy shops (Carambatack Design and Art by Annette Mangseth), and this piece of art (which happens to be an original!) is from her second shop. Her work is very easy to recognize, as she does most of it on antique book pages and uses mixed media illustration in a way that I’ve never seen it used before. Be sure to also check out her Flickr!
Here is a digital set of pieces by John W. Golden, whose Etsy shop caught my attention because of the vintage detailing. His tagline to his shop is “Vintage Techniques Made Modern” and I think that’s about as accurate as you can get when describing his art. He has a lot of stuff that reminds me of really high quality vintage comic books, and the attention to detail is incredible. There’s plenty more to look at in his Etsy shop, his blog, and you can always follow him on Twitter as well!
I was saved this artist for last because she is my newest favorite. The artwork you see above is actually embroidered (freehand machine embroidered, to be exact) and collaged with scraps of vintage and thrifted fabric and lace. I can’t even begin to tell you how something this gorgeous and detailed could come from a machine needle, but let me just say, Laura Amiss has some mad talent. The rest of her Etsy shop is just as amazing (especially the portraits) and if you have time, definitely give her website a gander, as well as her Flickr photostream.
Well, that’s all four of them for you. I do hope that you enjoyed my Wednesday Art Showcases as much as I have enjoyed putting them together for you, but I do have to regretfully inform you that this will be the last because I am busybusybusy planning for my wedding (that’s sneaking up on me, in just 6 months!). I have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you guys, and it’s been really great being able to contribute to such an amazing blog. Thanks for your support and I hope to be back again in the future, for sure!

The new exhibition went up earlier today, and we are so excited. There are lots of new shops to explore, and new products from some of your old favorites as well. November is only a couple of days away, so get your holiday list started now….on papernstitch.
