Between attempts to be “Green” and a desire to save money, I’m always intrigued by innovative ways to reuse and repurpose household items. I spotted these tin can lids by Jack Bresnahan on Dezeen via My Favorite Things, and am just flabbergasted by the brilliance.

Jack feels that ‘anything that ends up in landfill is simply poor design’.

Keeping that theory in mind, Jack created a set of 9 biodegradable plastic lids that can be placed on top of a washed tin can and immediately revolutionize its purpose.

Who knew it was so simple to turn a can of baked beans into a toothbrush holder, vase, or soap dispenser?

Summer is officially over… Happy Fall everyone! Fall has always been my favorite fashion season. After a long, hot summer, I love adding texture and layers back into my wardrobe. And what’s the season’s must-have piece? The jacket, of course! This Fall, invest in pieces with chic silhouettes, luxurious materials, and one-of-a-kind details.
1. This cool, lightweight jacket is the perfect modern alternative to the trench coat. And you can feel really good about it because it’s handmade from eco-friendly hemp and organic cotton. Jacket by Pretty Birdie, $180.
2. A short-sleeved metallic tweed jacket is the perfect balance of classic and contemporary style. Tweed jacket by Anna Sui, $226.80 from the Outnet.
3. This chocolate brown wool wrap jacket looks so comfy, but chic at the same time. Plus it’s made to order, so you know it will fit perfectly. Wool knit jacket by Sandmaiden, $120.
4. The military trend is so hot right now… I love how this jacket softens up the look with layers of cascading ruffles. Military Jacket by Free People, $148.
5. You will definitely stand out from the crowd in this unique jacket. I love the girly pink color, princess silhouette, and folkloric pattern. Elimovna coat, $298 from Anthropologie.
6. Motorcycle jackets are one of the must-have pieces of the season. This one bumps up the luxe factor with buttery soft, caramel-colored suede. Suede jacket by IRO, $216.50 from Shopbop.

Welcome to Craft Venture – business and marketing tips for indie online business owners. Like me! I’m Brenda, owner of Phydeaux Designs on Etsy1000 Markets, and Phydelle Designs on Etsy. Last week, we talked about considering what the market will bear when you are pricing your products or services, as part of our discussion about pricing – perhaps the most challenging part of owning your own business. and
Hopefully, you’ve read our whole series on pricing your products and/or services, and perhaps you’ve even worked on your own pricing as a result! As you know or have learned, pricing is both very simple and incredibly complex. Cover your costs, build in a wage, make sure you have a profit margin.
But wait!
What about wholesale pricing?
Ah yes, the dual edged sword: wholesaling. Has your heart gone pitter patter when you read an email from a potential wholesale customer, only to go floppity flop when you realize that wholesale prices are significantly lower than your own retail price? Before we dig into wholesale pricing, maybe we should back up and talk about what wholesaling is?
