I have always been a sucker for a good story…and I have a great (and short) one to share today: How Roll and Tumble Press came to be. Christie, painter turned letterpress printer, and Caleb, art school dropout turned tattoo artist, bonded over their love of music, quirky collections and dusty junk shops. One, big, drafty house, three rescue dogs, and a chance meeting with a true old time printer and Roll & Tumble Press was born. On top of making these super cool letterpress prints (and cards), Christie and Caleb are wonderful people to work with and have a true passion for what they do. Visit Roll and Tumble Press for more info.

What a week I’ve just had! Not enough time in the day to get everything done. This coming week was supposed to be my vacation, but my week off turned into a halfweek, while some design deadlines were moved up to this very week. In the midst of that, I’m dealing with a broken computer, typing right now on a broken keyboard, and fantasizing about running away to join the circus.
Every feel the same?
Unfortunately for all of us, the computer age hasn’t really ended up saving time for us, has it? Well, sure, it’s made it possible for us to do more in less time, but the result has been adding more and more and more to our days.
Luckily, any one of us, regardless of education, experience or wealth, can deal with staying productive even with limited time, but setting goals. Not just any goal, but effective, achievable goals. SMART goals!

I first stumbled on this week’s blog of the week on Creature Comforts a couple of months ago. I bookmarked it and then unfortunately forgot about it until recently, when I re-discovered it in my bookmarks (isn’t that the best?). I am now sure I will never forget this inspirational fashion and design blog again! Its Luphia Loves and as you can see from above it is absolutely lovely. Oh, and did I mention the author of the LL blog is also the style maven behind this shop? Wow!
Stop by the Tobyboo shop for the cutest kids creations (they be customized too)! Name art, toy storage, tooth pockets (for the tooth fairy), and baby hair keepsakes are among some of the pieces you will find there. My favorite piece? This hand-sewn fabric love letter. Can you imagine sending this to someone you love? So Special. Visit Tobyboo.

Swak by Sarah has some really unique jewelry pieces. Like this firefly necklace. But my favorite piece is this custom Little Artist pendant. You can actually have your child’s artwork made into a piece of jewelry. I love this idea! Visit Swak by Sarah for more info.
Earlier in the week, Holly of Decor8 posted about her new business cards (which are absolutely lovely) and it got me thinking about my own business cards. As I was searching around, one of the shops I looked at was Happygirl Greetings. Laura Beth’s vintage-modern fusion is quite sweet. Wouldn’t these be cute for a vintage shop owner? And very affordable I might add…a set of 50 custom cards start as low as $12.50! Visit Laura Beth’s shop, Happygirl Greetings for more info.

I was rather tickled this morning when I popped over to The City Sage and discovered that genius photographer Rodney Smith now has a blog! I’ve been oogling his work for some time, and I look forward to reading more about his creative process. One of his first posts discusses the iconic “kissing in a sea of cabs” photo, pictured above. Go check it out!
Happy Friday!

As the summer continues to heat up, Room by Room with FormFire Glassworks heads outdoors with a great example of iconic modern patio-worthy furniture, the Bertoia Diamond Chair.
Harry Bertoia created this line of bent wire chairs in 1952 for Knoll. Although the grid has a light look, it is a sturdy and comfortable chair available with a basic seat cushion or fully covered. With chrome wires or powder-coated steel and a vinyl cushion, this is a great option for outdoor seating and indoor conversation areas alike. The airy mesh keeps your seating area from looking too heavy, and fits perfectly into the greenery of an intimate patio.
Continuing the outdoor theme, a minimalist glass birdfeeder hangs from a tree or patio cover. A set of adjustable candle sconces grace the garden wall, which also houses a powder-coated sculptural piece of art. A set of three planters sets atop your table with succulents of small herbs. Let’s not forget your furry family members who can enjoy a drink of water from a simple modern raised bowl.
Next week I will choose a new iconic piece and give you my picks for accessorizing your modern home.
