Black and white is one color palette that will never, ever go out of style. Instead of just mixing solids, try adding some punch to your wardrobe with bold, graphic pieces like these. Pair any of these items with a pop of bright color for a seriously eye-catching look.

1. This cardigan is so unique, but still very classic and wearable. I just love the unexpected color blocking… everyone will be asking you where you found it! Lightweight cardigan by Diesel, $70 (50% off the original price!).
2. This clutch is ladylike and demure, but striking and bold at the same time. The crisp black-on-white scheme helps balance out the girly floral print. Nikkita Collection clutch, $65 from Fiaz Co.
3. Everyone needs a show-stopping dress in their closet, and this asymmetrical striped frock is sure to do the trick. No one will be able to keep their eyes off you! One shoulder stripe dress by Colette Powell, about $106 from ASOS (prices are in British pounds).
4. Converse Chuck Taylors have been in style for at least 30 years, and you really can’t go wrong with a black and white pair. This pair has a more feminine skimmer silhouette and a lighter weight – perfect for summer! All Star light skimmer by Converse, $42.
5. Set off any outfit with a stack of graphic bangles. From top: Love bangle, $5.80 from Forever 21; Catwalk striped bangle by Talullah Tu, about $30 (prices are in British pounds); Chunky carved bangle, $9.99 from Target.
6. Scarves seem to be the hottest accessory right now. The tube shape of this striped jersey version is different yet super versatile. Humanoid scarf by La Garconne, $89.

Brenda from Phydeaux and Phydelle Designs here, back yet again to talk with you about the management of your online indie business! We’ve been talking about how to spruce up your online shop to increase acceptance into juried marketplaces and exhibits. I detoured a little last week by talking about how to use tags for your shop products, to increase search traffic to your shop. This week, I’m going to talk with you about promoting your business, which may just be the number one topic that business owners want to learn to do effectively!
I’m about to ask you a very difficult question for many to answer. Why is this question difficult? Because so many owners of indie online shops are working with partial, assumptive or second hand knowledge on this topic.
Here’s the question: what is the difference between marketing and promotion?
Now take a minute to answer that for yourself, then read on!

B Johnson Jewelry is having a fun little giveaway for a pearl necklace that Betty, owner of the custom jewelry shop, made special for the occasion. It would be great for a night out or for a bride-to-be. (I purposely did not attach a photo of the necklace…you’ll have to click the link to check it out). Hehe.
Side Note: There will be no blog of the week this week (or for the next couple of weeks for that matter) as I prepare to leave for my honeymoon- I am not leaving until the end of the week, but am starting to “hunker down” now. Yes, I just said hunker down. Regular posting will continue while I am gone, but blog of the week won’t be back until July 6th.

Oh how I wish this was me right now: splashing around at the beach instead of trying to get ahead on papernstitch stuff before I leave for two weeks. I will probably mention this again next week sometime, but just in case…I am getting married on June 2oth (that’s a week from tomorrow) and am doing my best to get everything scheduled for regular posts here, taking care of updating the site, and of course, finishing up the PILES of DIY projects that I have started for the wedding! I am doing my best to get to all my emails, but if I have not gotten back to you for some reason, feel free to send me a follow-up email and I will get to it as soon as I possibly can. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Here are Friday’s links around blog land:
