show_us_your_shelf

A week or two ago, I mentioned that Jeff and his co-worker, Dennis, had just launched a new site called EMPRNT. In the post I mentioned that there was an interview coming soon, and it is still coming soon, very soon. I swear. But until then, I thought I would mention the flickr group EMPRNT has created where you can show off your bookcases. I know many of us are design nuts and love a good read, so don’t be shy. Head on over there and post your bookshelf. The goal for this section is to allow anyone to add photos of their own bookshelf to show off to the world.

In a few days time all of the bookshelves added to the Flickr pool will be streamed into EMPRNT’s bookshelves section, with some of them even being featured on the homepage. Pretty neat. I will have to post up pictures of our bookshelves when I get a chance.

Top. Violet Sunglasses, Yellow Sunglasses, and Grey Sunglasses

Bottom. Need a Few and Lipstick

Yesterday, I received an email from Dallas Shaw to let me know about her limited edition prints that are now available at Shiny Squirrel. I am adoring the flat-colored backgrounds on all of these pieces. It really brings emphasis to the subject matter, and makes me think about the simple complexity of life and the things that surround us.

I think my favorite piece is the lipstick print. But, I also love the way those geek glasses look, especially together like that. For more from Dallas Shaw, visit her website here.

It’ s been a while since our last giveaway and I am starting to get antsy. Fortunately, the wait is over! But this time, we have teamed up with Creature Comforts. Ez will be hosting a papernstitch giveaway on her blog, that starts today (and ends 1/19). I am so excited about this. I think this is the best giveaway papernstitch has ever done!

What’s up for grabs? One lucky winner will receive a 3 month product subscription!  I have never offered a papernstitch subscription before and am SO excited to be able to do this for the giveaway! This subscription will include one item a month (for 3 months), ranging in value from $15-$30.  Prizes will be hand-selected by me and will be chosen from the art, home decor, and fashion accessories categories.  Your prizes will be a surprise and will equal up to $90 in total value! Click here to enter to win.

Hey everyone! Amy of FormFire Glassworks here for my very first guest post on papernstitch. I’ll be writing a weekly feature called Room by Room. Each week, I will be picking a room in the house and choose modern handmade that would be perfect for the space. I hope you enjoy it!

Outfitting your life in a modern style requires great attention to detail, and at the very least making a conscious decision to break from it for a sentimental or much-beloved piece. Each area of your home is a chance to bring in a bit of geometry, color, simple form and well-designed beauty.

The entry or foyer is a visitor’s first view of your home. This is your opportunity to make a visual statement and apprise guests of your modern aesthetic. As you walk through the front door, your feet hit the felt rug that brings texture and warmth to a bare floor. You hang your coat on a rack that brings in a splash of color without being overwhelming. You place your modern clutch down on the waiting bench that evokes a Japanese feel yet fits perfectly with its simple lines and detailed joinery. A vase brings intimacy to the foyer, waiting to be filled with fresh flowers from the garden or farmer’s market, and geometric artwork hangs on the wall, filling out an inviting color palette.

Join me next week as we travel through the modern living room.

Set of Three Mini Prints from Wren and Chickadee

I love twitter! If if I didn’t have a twitter account, I would have never known that Ez of Creature Comforts and Wren and Chickadee started selling mini prints of her (and her daughter’s) gorgeous photography. Seen above, these mini prints measure 3.2 x 2.5 inches and can be purchased as a set of three. But the best part is you get to choose which three photos you would like and you have 22 choices! It almost sounds too good to be true- and the kicker is that a set of three is only $6!!! At that price, you better get more than one set (I know I will be).

The Taste of Summer Print Set and Sylvia 5×7 Print (both by Wren and Chickadee)

If you are looking for something a little larger to fill up those bare walls, the Wren and Chickadee shop still has you covered. In addition to the minis, there are also larger prints in the shop that range from 5×5 to 8.5x 11 inches. Yippee! You can check out the Wren and Chickadee shop right here, and make sure to swing by later today as well because I have announcement to make about Ez’s blog, Creature Comforts.

submitnuggs

Back by popular demand… As some of you know this is my favorite picture of my cat, Nuggs. I have posted this before and it was a big hit (I even got emails about it). So, I thought I would recycle this photo again, since it is fitting…

The deadline for submitting your work for the next papernstitch exhibition is tomorrow (Wednesday). We have a lot of exciting things planned for this next exhibition, which I cannot reveal just yet, but I assure you, its very neat! Remember that all papernstitch exhibitors are not only exhibiting and promoting their work, but also battling it out in a competition for the most votes each month (winner gets $150 USD!). Interested? It only takes a minute to submit your shop. Click here for all the details.
