Unfortunately, I just got news that Fact and Fancy will be closing its doors on February 8th. This is the third closing that I have heard about in the last two two weeks, and it doesn’t get any easier to say goodbye to these lovely handmade-promoting shops. In these hard economic times, small business seems to get hit the worst and I only hope that soon we will all recover from this.
Fact and Fancy is a charming gallery in Brooklyn, New York that sells handmade goods and artwork. I was never able to visit the brick and mortar store in person, but I feel like I have. Jena of Modish did a great shop tour of F&F in June of last year, along with an interview with Danielle and Christine. The gallery is having a big sale from now until closing date…everything in the gallery is 30% off. So, if you are in the area, make sure you stop by and show some love and support for a shop that will be sorely missed.

I am so excited! We just launched a new section to the papernstitch site today! Its called Friend Favs. Every month, we will ask someone we love from the art/ design/ handmade community to select their top 15-20 papernstitch picks to showcase in the friend favs section. I am absolutely thrilled to announce that the very first guest we have for Friend Favs is Erin Loechner of Design for Mankind!

We are so pumped up, we created a couple of additions to the front page, so you can access the DFM picks easily. I have always admired Erin and what she does, and we feel honored to have her. Big thanks to Erin for going along for the ride! You can check out Erin’s papernstitch picks right here.
A good web-buddy of mine, Amy has decided to close her Etsy shop, Morphologie, to pursue her art jewelry (mixed media… a wood collection and brand new paper sculpture jewelry). The store will officially close on Januray 31st. Amy is having a closing sale and everything in her Etsy shop is 20% off. The prices have already been adjusted, so no need to calculate pricing.
I am lucky enough to own a gorgeous pair of Morphologie earrings and hairpins myself and the pictures do not do Amy’s work justice. I have received endless compliments in the week or so I have had them! Everything in her shop is beautiful, so please head over to Amy’s shop and check it out. Supplies are limited and the store is closing in less than a week. So hurry!

This week For Me, For You is the blog of the week. I am embarrassed to say that I discovered For Me, For You only a few month’s ago, thanks to this Storque featured buyer post. According to the article, the blog started as a way for two best friends to keep in touch (and inspired)- Kate and Andrea. In the process they have managed to inspire perfect strangers, who frequent the blog daily for fresh finds in the categories of art, fashion and home. Check out the For Me, For You blog right here.

A couple of weeks ago, Marichelle of Heart Handmade invited me (and Jeff) to take part in her Retail Therapy series. Of course, we were thrilled and so honored to have been asked to be a part of something like this. So, I got to work on answering the questions right away and I really enjoyed it. I answered questions about the site (plans for the future, top picks, etc), gave some tips on keeping sane with a busy schedule, and a whole lot more.
And now the interview is up on the HH blog and the image above is from the post. I am so excited! I hope that you will go check it out and let me know what you think. And a BIG thank you to Marichele again for asking us to do this! And if there are any questions that I wasn’t asked in the interview that you would like to me to answer, I would be happy to. You can just leave your question in the comments here and I will answer as many as i can.
